Free Teacher Gift Tag Printables

Monday, August 26, 2013

Something new to me is teacher appreciation gifts. I can’t recall ever giving my teachers gifts as a kid – not even around the holidays or on the last day of school. I think it’s become a ‘thing’ like back-to-school supply lists (which I also never had as a kid…) I’ve seen some really fantastic, creative gifts with cute sayings on fun little gift tags, and I wanted to make my own version for Whitney’s pre-kindergarten teacher. After some thought, I decided to give him a bottle of wine. Yes. That is so me. I made my cute gift tag printable label. It got drafted, created, cut and then assembled onto the bottle. The gift was ready to go for Meet the Teacher Night taking place at the school later that evening. I thought the whole idea was perfect.

"I'll try not to wine. Cheers to the weekend if I do."

My husband didn’t think so. He came home from work, saw what I did and said, “Erin. You’re giving Whitney’s pre-k teacher a bottle of wine?” Me, “Shyeah. Those cutesy-wutesy gifts are overused. Let’s give him something different.” Him, “Please don’t bring the wine to Meet the Teacher night. Give it to him on the first day or something.” I was really bummed, but I gave in to his idea.

After Meet the Teacher Night we walked in through the door of our home both laughing hysterically. None of the other parents brought gifts for the teacher. Not a single one. I can’t imagine what it would have looked like if we marched in to the tiny little pre-k classroom with our bottle of wine. So sophisticated, and yet undeniably awkward.

I still like the idea of giving a teacher appreciation gift. Therefore, I designed a new gift tag printable label with a more subdued, but definitely more appropriate, theme.

Today is Whitney’s very first day of school. Nerves are running higher than expected for both she and I. But I’ll be back later in the week to talk about it. In the mean time, I’m off to enjoy a glass of ungifted wine…

    1. Hi Big E,

Thanks! I tried... I saw other parents bringing a plant or something actually useful to the classroom. I have a lot to learn. ;)

  3. I have to say I have three boys and I have NEVER brought a gift on back to school night or the first day of school. With that being said, I LOVE the idea! I am totally going to use your labels for our teachers this year. And yes, I will be using the 'wine' labels! Super cute!! Danya
